Bio

Bio

Hello and welcome to my new website which shows a small selection of paintings and photos and music made over the last 30 years or so on this journey/adventure called life!

So a little bit of background bio, I was brought up in Northamptonshire, England, the middle of three siblings and as a moody creative child, I loved roaming the countryside and exploring i.e. getting lost! I’ve always hated coming in on an evening whatever the season!

My dad worked in boots and shoes and my mum was a piano teacher. I learnt the violin before tuning into and loving the sound of bass later on. As far as I can remember I always liked drawing and painting, kept a diary to make sense of the world and always a notebook to jot lyrics, notes and bad poems into.

When I struggled with depression playing, writing, doodling and singing hums were a go to when I could!

I have managed to transform my depressive and self-destructive tendencies through my SGI Buddhist practice, met through a good friend while living in Brixton, London. I was looking for something and this daily practice is helping me master my mind and transform a lot of anger and greed and stupidity! It's all about our hearts.

I realised that the inner low life state called hell or closedown can be a platform for creativity but the lesson is not to hang on or stay attached to it!

As I have journeyed I have helped with children of varying abilities to create and have fun.

When I began to seriously paint I found bits of wood hardboard in skips to release some of my anger and express myself. Friends gave me paints etc. I sold my first piece in a little café down the road. This was me getting my life back together.

Being part of a group show in the then Brixton Art Gallery was me overcoming some self sabotage. I sold a piece! For £100!

I have exhibited regularly over the last 27 years in London & I used to be part of the Skylark gallery collective in London and when I moved to Kent in 2001 I exhibited in places and spaces across East Kent from libraries to New Kent Gallery in Broadstairs and the Pie Factory Margate among many others. You can find my paintings for sale through Saatchi Art or contact me for any other enquiries.

Musically I composed the soundtrack for a friend's film in the LGBTQ community back in the day and always had tunes, basslines, lyrics come to me which I’ve tried to jot down and develop over the years.

Most recently with the help of producer and sound wiz David from Tonic Note records in Margate.

Photography and film I would like to explore and express myself more with. I used to develop my b and w photos..the joy!

So here's to all our creativity.

Thankyou for reading and here's a couple of quotes to absorb
